About the Imperfect Mom

Hi, thanks for visiting my blog!

My name is Bethany, and I am an imperfect mom.  I'm an imperfect person in a lot of ways, actually, and while I try my best, let's face it, I'm never going to be perfect.  With God's grace and a sense of humor, I just try to keep going day by day.

I have been married to my husband for 13 years, and we have been together for over 18 years.  He's put up with me for that long! We have two pretty cool kids-our 10 year old daughter whom I refer to as Little Bit, and our 8 year old son, Tot.  We have 2 cats, one of whom thinks he's the family dog, and the other one just uses us for a warm place to sleep and a bowl of food every day.  We also have an actual dog, whom both cats hate, and about 10 fish.  It's like a zoo around here!

After teaching Kindergarten for a few years, and then working part time for Sylvan as an Assistant Director of Education, I am now working as a Title 1 Assistant.  (Which means that I'm actually a Title 1 teacher, but the district doesn't want to spend the money on a teacher's salary.  Lucky me, right?)  I like my job, but the transistion to something new after 7 years has been kind of hard, and I'm still trying to work out the kinks.

I'm not exactly a domestic diva-I like to decorate, and sometimes go through brief phases where I enjoy cooking, but I always come to my senses pretty quickly.  I'm a terrible baker, so I don't even try most of the time.  I try to keep my house tidy, but I certainly don't enjoy it much.  Laundry is my nemesis-I'm always trying to get caught up with it. June Cleaver, I'm not.

I do enjoy reading, summer, cheese, Chipotle chips and salsa, Coke Zero, Big Chewy Sweet Tarts and Runts.  I love reading stories to my kids, and I tend to see humor in strange things.

In between work, helping my kids with homework, running being various sports practices, games and Scout meetings,  and Facebooking and blog reading, I blog.  It's just for fun, and honestly, I try not to take it too seriously.  I blog about myself, my kids and my faith, and try to inject a little of my personality into every post.  I'm a pretty down to earth person in real life, so I try to keep it real in my blog posts as well.  I love comments, they help me know that I'm not just rambling to myself, so feel free to jump in, and if you blog, I'll return the favor!
